Bruins Re-Up with Providence, Add Jay Pandolfo to Staff, Promote Sweeney

The Boston Bruins made two minor moves Wednesday involving their future.

The Boston Bruins were please to announce Wednesday evening that they have agreed to a long-term extension with their affiliation, Providence Bruins.

The Bruins have been affiliated with Providence since 1992. The team has won three Regular Season Titles, five Division Championships, one Conference Championship along with one Calder Cup. Currently manning the Providence Bruins is head coach, Bruce Cassidy.

The Bruins also announced Wednesday an agreement with Jay Pandolfo to serve as a player development coach. Pandolfo, a 13-year NHL veteran, played for the Bruins during the 2012-2013 season as he tallied a -2 +/- in 18 games. Pandolfo, a native of Winchester, MA, also has ties with the Boston University having gone to college and playing on their hockey team.

The last move the team announced was the promotion of assistant GM, Don Sweeney, to GM of the Providence Bruins. GM of the Providence Bruins was a role Peter Chiarelli served since arriving in Boston.
