I consider myself to be a rabid sports fan, particularly Boston sports. I played basketball, baseball and golf growing up and I continue to hack around on a golf course and play First Base for the Melrose Pondfeilders, a vintage base ball club that plays by 1861 rules. I am a die-hard fan of the Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins and Patriots as well. I am a Celtics Beat Writer and the Red Sox Beat Manager for the CLNSRadio Blog as well as an occasional co-host on the CLNSRadio Celtics Postgame Show. Follow Me on Twitter @CLNS_Sean

Report: Jason Varitek to retire on Thursday

varitek

With Jarrod Saltamacchia returning as the starting catcher this season and Ryan Lavarnway waiting in the wings, it seemed as though there was not a spot for the old workhorse Jason Varitek on the roster of the 2012 Boston Red Sox. His fate was definitely sealed when it was announced on December 14th that the [...]

Well, it only took 4 months, but the Boston Red Sox have finally received compensation for allowing former General Manager Theo Epstein leave the organization to take a promotion with the Chicago Cubs. In my opinion, this should have been wrapped up before Theo was even allowed to walk out the door, but [...]

Mavericks cruise past the Celtics

Dirk-Nowitzki-Mavericks--Photosport

It may have been better for the Celtics to not have even showed up for this game tonight and gone right to Oklahoma City. In a game that was controlled by the Mavericks from beginning to end, Dallas wins easily over the Celtics, 89-73. Boston was without Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo, with Rondo serving [...]

The Celtics will try to salvage a bit of dignity tonight as they travel to Dallas to take on the Mavericks at the American Airlines Center. The team has now lost 5 out of their last 6 games and 3 of those losses were to teams under .500 and not expected to make [...]

Red Sox Spring Training Preview: Part 2

BobbyValentine

This is the first Spring Training in a long time that hasn’t had Tim Wakefield as a part of it. Reality is really setting in now two days after Wake officially announced his retirement and with pitchers and catchers reporting to camp today. Another missing piece that has been a mainstay of Red Sox Spring [...]

espnboston_r_jet-blue_mb_300

For a fan of all Boston sports like me, it’s been a tough couple of weeks. I’ve been in mourning after the Patriots lost in the Super Bowl and leaning on the Celtics and Bruins to make me forget hasn’t been working so well. I am looking for an outlet to…not so much vent my [...]

Rose-less Bulls are still too much for Celtics

You can never really say that officiating costs any team a win, so I won’t. However in a horribly officiated game in Chicago tonight, the Bulls overtook the Celtics and withstood a late run to come out victorious, 89-80. It was a game of runs, and Chicago had the last one. The Celtics could not [...]
