As we prepare for lots and lots of turkey and hopefully even more football tomorrow I thought I would be give you another one of my “Rant of the Day” to think about as you stuff another piece of pie while sitting in front of the tube. This one is pretty simple and widely spread, no matter the sport, no matter the analyst, and it’s something that drives me up the wall: how the so-called experts love to change their mind and forget what they previously said about a team or a player. It’s something that happens way too often and that personally I would like to see it stop!
Isn’t anyone tired of the analysts saying how Team A is going to destroy Team B in this game, then when in the first half of the game the opposite happens all say the reasoning behind it, but very seldom do you hear any of them saying “I was wrong about this!” Sure, I have seen some take the time to admit their wrong calls, some even kid about it weeks, months, heck, years, later about some bad predictions, but for the most part they just ignore it as though they never made the call and move on as nothing was. Maybe I am picking on these people, but if I want to be told the wrong news and have to deal with it I will listen to the weather forecasters.
If they were gambling on games and were wrong Tony Soprano would not forgive them or their losses. So why am I a stickler on this? Because personally I think that if the experts were held more accountable on their predictions they might do less of them and do a bit more research than they do now. Yes, I know that they are not a betting site, even though another pet peeve I have is that the major sport sites do have “odds” on them, but that is another post for another time, but they are here to analyze the game and to give predictions on it. So, has we sit down tomorrow after eating let’s remember that in the end what the people tell us before the game is just that “a lot of talk”! In the end this is my “Rant of the Day” for November 23, 2001, but my thought for this day is that all of you have the most blessed of a Thanksgiving and enjoy the company of family and friends. And while we do sit around a table and enjoy ourselves let’s remember the real heroes (our troops) tomorrow as they stand watch and protect our rights to have Thanksgiving.

I couldn’t agree more alex. As you know, I am a stickler for the broadcasters too. They are such hypocrites. The “experts” that the networks put on could not hold up against the local coverage at all. They may be bias homers but at least they admit it. I love the rant of the day.
BTW– Who are you top 5 ncaa/nba broadcasters?
Tell you what Nick, I will write a post about my top 5 broadcasters, since I like to put something behind why I think that about them.
AEM
I will look forward to reading that Alex.
